Cambodian rice is one of the three finalists in the tasting contest during the recent World Rice Conference organised in Chiang Mai province of Thailand, according to Cambodian Rice Federation’s official Facebook page.
Although Cambodia’s rice could not earn the top place in the contest, underlined the source, it was among the finalists, outdoing other twenty rice contestants from 14 countries.
Mr. Jeremy Zwinger, the President and CEO of the Rice Trader – lead organiser of the World Rice Conference – was quoted as saying that the decision of judging cook for Thai rice as the winner of this year’s contest was a tough one.
President of the Cambodian Rice Federation H.E. Sok Puthyvuth sees the world’s platform beyond a rice contest arena.
Cambodia’s participation in the World Rice Conference, said H.E. Sok Puthyvuth, provides opportunity for the country to market the product for possible foreign investments.
Eight of its kind, the World Rice Conference took place on Nov. 17-18. Cambodia will host the event next year.
On the same platform, Cambodia’s rice won the top place in three consecutive years, from 2012 to 2014.
