Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen held a short, but fruitful bilateral talk yesterday evening with his Chinese counterpart H.E. Li Keqiang, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
According to the National Television of Cambodia (TVK)’s report, the talk focused on rice trade and China’s development assistance to Cambodia, as well as scholarship programme for Cambodian students.
H.E. Li Keqiang affirmed to increase the purchase of Cambodian rice from 100,000 tons this year to 200,000 tons next year, to provide loans for the reconstruction of National Road No. 51, the rehabilitation of Vai Ko irrigation system in Svay Rieng province and other projects, and to augment the number of scholarships for Cambodian students.
The Chinese premier also announced China’s support to the restoration of Angkor Wat Temple and to a study toward the renovation of Preah Vihear Temple.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to China for her numerous assistance to Cambodia. He agreed with H.E. Li Keqiang’s suggestion to promote the visit exchange at all levels between the two countries so as to further tighten their relationship.
